DISRUPTIONS
About

 |

In 1993, Annemarie and Lucius Burckhardt rolled out a zebra-print rug across a main street in Kassel, suddenly reversing the priority of cars and pedestrians and upending the fragile power balance between the two. It doesn’t always take much to overturn seemingly immovable values: mostly a good amount of observation and a bit of wit. Sometimes it is productive to be, well, in French we say ‘un cheveu dans la soupe’: a hair in the soup. In an industry responsible for almost half of the planet’s CO₂ emissions, yet somehow committed to making the same mistakes over and over again, the coming generation is understandably eager to challenge the status quo.
Disruptions is a teaching programme that aims to equip young architects with the tools to question conventions and develop working methods that lead towards unexpected and critical approaches.

Disruptions is a teaching programme developed by Anna MacIver-Ek and Axel Chevroulet, alongside their practice MacIver-Ek Chevroulet.
